So indie

Scarf-Thrifted :: Cardigan-JCPenny :: Shirt-F21 :: Shorts-Bullhead :: Tights-Target :: Shoes-Minnetonka

I've always wanted to do the whole hipster "tights with jeans shorts" look, so, here's my go at it.

I went thrifting today in search of an outfit to wear to a party I'm going to on Friday. I have to dress up like a rich person would dress in the 40's.
So, PLEASE HELP:
How would a rich person dress formally in the forties?
Please and thank you :)

I did get two skirts and a bag from the trip though, so, yayyyy!

Anyways, I thought I had a pretty good outfit going on, I had this white skirt that went down to mid calf and I found this gold shiny skirt that was made out of a tutu material to put under it to give the white skirt volume. Then I got a black tight top to wear with it. Actually, now that I think of it..... I was wearing a 50's outfit....
Anyways, I was asking my mom if the outfit looked 40's to her, and then the lady in the dressing room next to me pops her head out, and says that she was a costume designer, and was wondering if she could give me some tips.
Well, she told me that formal wear of the forties was as follows:
Tight and slinky with a scoop neck in the back of the dresses.
I wasn't too thrilled about that, because I was all excited to wear a big poofy skirt and such, and she crushed that for me D':
I don't like wearing tight clothing....
Oh well, I 'll figure something out.
